The Chicago Rock Gods / Dutch Super-Group: GENE YAAS had their first ever Chicago performance - Last night(18th June, 2008) at Elbo Room.
It was a rather rousing success!
With a significant fan presence - and enthusiastic reception and response to their peculiar brand of hard-pop-rock.
Their powerfully silly and catchy tunes went over well.
Katheter's lead singer: Zach Hubeck rounded out the second half of their set with a handful of band and fan favorites.
Zach performed brilliantly - and injected extra excitement and energy to the show's climactic finale!
The rest of the GENE YAAS line-up consisted of: Marty Hitzeman(Gene Maarteen) on Guitar and lead vocals; Phil Blus(Philippus Van Yaas) on drums and backing vocals; Brian Weder(Bartel Weit) on Bass; and newest member, Keith Briscoe(Stijn Kolbus) on second and occasional lead guitar.
Maybe the next show will be on a Friday - and we'll see you there.
Hey, "Northside":
Thanks for making it to the show!
Spinal Tap has always had a huge influence on me - and on most of the rock groups I've worked with. (Big source of inspiration!)
No Covers though - It's a sort of policy with me - in regards to GENE YAAS.
The "Crazy Video" was shot in the Spring of 2000 - and was a college project/ a "creative response" assignment - if you can believe that.
See you at the next gig.
